Biography

2000 <br/>After graduating from guitar making school, he started working at a guitar manufacturer, where he was involved in repair, design and production. 2006~ Worked in the import division of a musical instrument store, where he was responsible for inspecting and repairing imported guitars, amps and effects. He also engaged in a wide range of work, including planning, designing and producing private brand products, as well as maintaining repaired and second-hand products brought to the store.

From 2023
PVP Co., Ltd. launched Kogalashi Sound Magic as a Zanshin brand.

Before Kogalashi

I have been involved in the development and design of guitars, effects, and other products, and looking back, I feel like I was always struggling to add an idea that was unique.

The ideas we add vary from product to product, but there seems to be a certain direction, and every time we create a new product we often hear people say in a positive way that it's "very Koga-like."

Thinking about it

This may be because I have been involved in everything from making guitar effects to repairing amplifiers, and I think of each role as being separate. For example, an effect is just an effect, so even when making a distortion effect, I don't design it to resemble an amplifier.

This allows us to think about how to add distortion effects while still taking advantage of the character of the guitar and amp, without being limited to a specific style.

I believe this kind of design philosophy is what makes Koga unique.

The Rust Codec is a fuzz and delay combo unit that combines a fuzz pedal, which can be adjusted continuously from a dense, shoegaze-like sound that fills the space to a sound with a gated, choppy feel, and a delay that creates a unique lo-fi feel by repeatedly sending the repeated sound to the fuzz circuit.

[Control]
"Delay 1/2"
You can switch between two sets of settings, Time1 and Repeat1, and Time2 and Repeat2, using the foot switch.
Fuzz and delay are closely related, and you can't use delay alone or get a clean delay sound.

"Level"
Adjust the final volume.

[Characteristic Controls]
" Starve
You can change the distortion character.
As you increase the knob, the sound changes from a round, dense, and sticky character to a sound with a bitcrusher-like distortion gradually added from around the 12 o'clock position. Furthermore, as you increase it further, it changes to a gate fuzz-like sound with the sound cutting off in a "puchi-puchi" manner, reproducing a rough and decadent fuzz sound, true to its name.

Feed
In the Rust Codec fuzz section, the Starve control determines the character, but the most important control is Feed.
It also affects the amount of delay repeats supplied, and in combination with the Starve control, you can achieve a strong compression swell effect or a unique sound that combines slapback delay and fuzz.

This effect is an overdrive that is designed to enhance the guitar sound in a band ensemble.

You can get a natural sound even when pushing an amp or using it in conjunction with other drive pedals, making it possible to create sounds that "match" a variety of environments.

What is [Flavor]?
This is no ordinary tone control!
This is the secret ingredient that adjusts the tone as it changes in response to the Drive value.
By adding Flavor, you can achieve a more distinctive guitar sound that won't get lost in the band ensemble.

Kogalashi Sound Magic｜Swell of Silence !? [Overseas Only]

Equipped with two independent phasers named [ANTE] and [POST]!

Although it is called a phaser, it is an effect that produces a variety of effects.
Swell of Silence!? is a four-stage phaser with a fully analog circuit that is capable of producing sounds ranging from deep, undulating to shallow, detailed expression.

When used in combination with distortion, it produces low-noise, swirling sounds, and even when cut with a clean sound, it never loses the pitch or musical tone of the chord work.
Swell of Silence!? is suitable for a variety of playing styles and will become a new modulation pedal.

One of its distinctive features is the “non-oscillating phaser.”
By controlling "Depth" and "Bias" it is possible to obtain a unique filter effect similar to a half-stop wah.
