TT frets are the best thing that ever happened to the guitar. I think they should have invented frets before they invented strings. Once you try them, there's no going back.

ABOUT

True Temperament

True Temperament is a patented fretboard design and methodology for placing and shaping the frets on the neck to provide more accurate tuning in any playing position.

True Temperament frets are tuned note-for-note, just like a piano. Curved Frets™ play just like standard guitar frets, so you don't have to change your playing technique - bending is unaffected.

Brand History

It all started with Anders Thidell

It all started with Anders Teidel.
When Anders had his own power trio, no matter what guitar he tried, he couldn't get the sound he was hearing in his head. Anders decided that to get the right intonation, he needed to work the fretboard. He realized that he needed to convert the TT system to 31(!) curved frets per octave. Anders spent over 15 years developing the TT system.

Team up with Paul Guy

In 2005, he teamed up with veteran guitar builder and technician Paul Guy, a world authority on guitar tuning, to realise his idea, and was persuaded to develop a temperament that used the standard 12 notes per octave rather than the 31 notes he had previously come up with.
The result was Thidell Formula 1 (well temperament with 12 notes per octave). Anders and Paul developed True Temperament into what it is today.

Possibly the greatest improvement in guitar making in the last 100 years!

An excellent business idea

Standard 12-tone 1-octave tuning gave rise to a great business idea: offering True Temperament (TT) retrofit necks for bolt-on Stratocaster and Telecaster type guitars. Business began to boom.

TT has never manufactured its own necks. As orders increased, the company began looking for a guitar factory that could manufacture TT necks, and found a reputable manufacturer in Europe that is still in use today. Since then, TT's custom shop has focused on modifying existing guitars, especially for famous guitarists such as Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, John Petrucci, Steve Morse, Matthias Eklunda, and Frederik Soldendal.

The TT quickly became famous and highly regarded, especially among professional guitarists, who found it a great help to musicians who had problems with pitch in the studio or elsewhere.

A new generation of TT-frets

In 2018 Anders designed a new type of fret suitable for mass production, made from stainless steel and developed to improve sustain and durability.

The frets have an integrated radius at the top (crown) for easy installation and minimal post-processing. Invented and manufactured in Sweden! The new standard!

A major breakthrough for True Temperament (TT) came in 2019, when several major guitar brands began producing guitars equipped with the TT system.

This led to a restructuring of the company, new investors, a new board of directors, and a new CEO. The TT fret system went from being a custom shop product to being a part of the major guitar manufacturers. By 2020, you will see TT-equipped guitars being sold in guitar shops around the world, and by some of the most well-known and top guitar brands.
